Kraft paper is known for its strength and durability, which could make it suitable for such a purpose.

Materials Needed:

Kraft paper sheets or rolls

Water-absorbent material (like gel beads or polymer crystals)

Waterproof material (such as plastic sheeting)

Sewing kit or adhesive (if sewing isn’t an option)

Preparation:

Cut the kraft paper into the desired size and shape for your cooling pad. It’s essential to have multiple layers of kraft paper to enhance durability and absorption.

Prepare the water-absorbent material according to the manufacturer’s instructions. This material will be the core of your cooling pad.

Assembly:

Layer the prepared water-absorbent material between the sheets of kraft paper. Ensure that the absorbent material is evenly distributed throughout the pad.

If you’re sewing the layers together, use a sturdy needle and thread to stitch around the edges of the pad, securing all layers together. Alternatively, you can use a strong adhesive to bond the layers.

Waterproofing:

To prevent leakage and ensure longevity, encase the entire cooling pad in a waterproof material. This could be another layer of kraft paper treated with a waterproofing agent, or you could use a separate waterproof lining like plastic sheeting.

Seal the edges of the waterproof material securely to prevent any moisture from escaping.

Testing and Usage:

Once the cooling pad is assembled and waterproofed, test it by soaking it in water for a sufficient amount of time.

Place the cooling pad in the desired location, such as a pet’s bed or a pillowcase, and monitor its effectiveness in providing cooling relief.
